A process for preparing substituted pyrrolidine compounds, including (5)- 2-{l-[2- (2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-5-yl)ethyl]-3-pyrrolidinyl}-2,2-diphenylacet amide hydrobromide, commonly known in the art as darifenacin, comprising rea cting a pyrrolidine compound with a benzofuran derivative in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst.
