PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize consumption of a secondary battery in a battery pack in a non-use state. SOLUTION: A system for charging a battery pack is composed so as to charge the batter pack BP, which includes the secondary battery RB and signal output terminals T3, T4 for battery voltage detection to monitor a voltage of the secondary battery RB, while connecting it to a charger. The charger includes a voltage detector connected to the signal output terminal T3 for battery voltage detection. A second switch device 3 is provided at a halfway of a wiring that reaches from the secondary battery RB to the voltage detector, so as to turn on/off conduction of the wiring. When it is not required to monitor the voltage of the secondary battery RB, the second switch device 3 is switched to be turned off. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
