A void former for use in the casting of concrete wall panels to form a re cess in a surface of the panel, comprises a flexible shell of box-like form is open at one side, an opposite side of the shell being closed and being ad apted for co-operation with a connection mounting cast into the panel to be accessible via the recess in the panel. The shell includes a removable rigid ifying insert which, after casting of the panel, is removed from the shell t o permit removal of the shell from the recess thus formed, by flexing of the shell.
