An alditol or inositol-based derivative is provided to be used as a transporter for various molecules having excellent biomembrane permeability and biological activity. A sugar-alcohol derivative or salt thereof has a structure represented by the following formula 1, wherein each of R1 and R2 is independently hydrogen, alkyl, arylalkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, -(CH2)mNHR', -(CH2)lCO2R'', -COR''', -SO2R'''', basic amino acid, a fluorescent material, or a bioactive material which is a transfer object selected from the group comprising doxorubicin and paclitaxel(wherein, each of R', R'', R''', and R'''' is independently hydrogen, alkyl, arylalkyl, cycloalkyl, heteroalkyl, basic amino acid, a fluorescent material, or a bioactive material which is a transfer object selected from the group comprising doxorubicin and paclitaxel, m is an integer of 2-5, and l is an integer of 1-5, with the proviso that at least one of R1 and R2 is doxorubicin, paclitaxel, -COR''', or basic amino acid), and R3 is the formula (a) or (b)(wherein, n is an integer of 1-12).
