There is provided a portable communication terminal capable of switching between icon display and non-display. Processes executed by a control unit of a portable phone which is an aspect of the portable communication terminal comprises the steps of detecting, during the execution of an icon-bar displaying process (S1200), a press of an operation key (S1704), terminating outputting icon data (S1710) if the operation key is associated with the icon-bar non-display function (YES in S1706) and if there is already no icon bar being displayed (YES in S1708), detecting a press of the operation key (S1712), and executing the icon-bar displaying process if the operation key is associated with the icon-bar display function (YES in S1714) and if there is no icon bar being displayed (NO in S1716).
