[Also in Group X] In a door 12 of the type which lies in a vertical plane when closed, and in a substantially horizontal plane above the door opening when opened, the lower edge is guided to follow a substantially vertical path, and two support members 15, each rigidly secured to an arm 14 which is pivotally connected to the door, roll inwards from the latter along track members 16, during opening movement, so that as the door is raised its upper part is drawn inwardly, members 15 and 16 being provided with means such as teeth to prevent slipping therebetween. The members 15 are in the form of quadrants carried by tubes 25 which are mounted on the arms 14. The latter are fixed within the ends of a lateral tube 11 journalled in brackets 13 carried by the door, and are provided at their free ends with counterweights 17. A bracket 20 at each bottom corner of the door carries a pin which is engaged in a vertical guideway 19. A counterweight may be connected by cable and pulley to each of said pins. The door may be operated by electrical or hydraulic means adapted to raise or lower the bottom edge of the door. In a modification the door consists of two hinged-together panels, each of which is connected by hinged arms to the quadrants. |
