An optical information reproducing apparatus and method are provided to multiplex optical information by modulating a reference beam pattern formed in a light modulator. An optical information reproducing apparatus comprises a light source, a spatial light modulator(130), a lens(180), and an optical information detector. The spatial light modulator displays a combed reference beam pattern(132) and allows a beam from the light source to be modulated as the reference beam while passing through the reference beam pattern. The lens guides the reference beam to an optical information storage medium(190). The optical information detector detects a reproducing beam reproduced by the reference beam incident to a recording area of the optical information storage medium. |
