FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: under the first variant of the method a layer of alumina of 2-15 cm thickness is charged on an electrolytic scum after the process treatment of the electrolytic cell. Then the condition of anode region hermetisation is checked and crushed electrolyte of a size minus 20 mm is charged till completed sealing of the anode region is achieved. According to the second variant when the condition of hermetisation of the anode region is checked they add a charge consisting of alumina and crushed electrolyte of a size minus 20 mm. The following composition of the charge is used: alumina 30-70 mas.% and crushed electrolyte - the rest. ^ EFFECT: facilitates formation of a hard and gas proof electrolyte-alumina scum; reduces pollution of environment; facilitates maintaining optimal concentration of alumina in electrolyte and increases current output. ^ 3 cl, 2 tbl, 1 ex
