An apparatus for treating food waste is provided to remove moisture contained in the food waste more securely, by draining the moisture through a hollow part of a case more easily and drying the food waste through a dry unit. A hopper(30) communicates with a case having a hollow part. Food waste is inputted into the hopper. A pulverizing member(50) is rotatively installed in the hollow part of the case to pulverize the inputted food waste. A compression and transport unit(70) is rotatively installed in the hollow part and distanced from the pulverizing part. The compression and transport unit transports the pulverized food waste upwardly and compresses the pulverized food waste, thereby making moisture contained in the food waste downwardly. A dry unit(90) dries the food waste transported by the compression and transport unit. The moisture flowing downwardly is moved along a sloping surface of the hollow part, and then discharged through a drainer formed at a lower portion of the hollow part. The dry unit includes a frame and a drying member disposed within the frame. The frame of the dry unit has a supply pipe through which the food waste is supplied, a rotation shaft disposed therein, and a discharge port through which the dried food waste is discharged. |
