METHOD OF DATA-INDEXING FOR DEVICES USING FLASH MEMORY-BASED STORAGES

A method for indexing data in a device using a flash memory as a storage device is provided to reduce power consumption and increase processing speed by indexing RDBMS(Relational DataBase Management System) and MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group)-7 based data efficiently. A type of column data stored in a flash memory is checked(S701). An index is extracted according to the type of the column data(S704). Index information is stored to an index data area of the flash memory(S705). A processing result is stored to a log buffer when index data is modified(S707). The modified index information is synchronized with the index data stored in the flash memory(S708). Term index information for the data of predetermined columns is formed in an RDBMS using the flash memory as a storage device. Modification of the index data includes addition, deletion, and change. Modification information includes a record ID, a start offset, and an increased/decreased offset.
