A WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical transmission system for ships is provided to construct remote terminals having automatically selected varied wavelengths, thereby realizing a low maintenance cost as enabling safe shipping services and management of ships on the sea. Each of remote terminal comprises terminal optical transmission units(Id1-IdN) using plural wavelengths, monitor optical receiving units(md1-mdN) for monitoring states of the units(Id1-IdN), and optical receiving units(pd1-pdN) for converting optical signals into electric signals by receiving branched signals incoming to the remote terminals through an optical power divider(PWD), as a unit set(S). A microprocessor(MC) performs logic of switching each unit set into another wavelength based on signals of the units. A WDM multiplexer(WM) receives and transmits other wavelengths of the units.
