<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic web text extraction method for acquiring information by item on a necessary web screen. <P>SOLUTION: A web text extraction apparatus, upon decision of a character string extraction range in the web screen according to a user's operation or automatically, acquires a character string in the character string extraction range, analyzes the character string, extracts (S6) a character string corresponding to one or more items, and stores (S7) the extracted character string. Hereat, as the items, for instance, a name, an address, a telephone number, and the like are cited. Accordingly, the user is not required to copy a character string one by one corresponding to these items for inputting, registering, or the like for his or her exclusive web screen.
