PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder device capable of enhancing the rigidity of a cap body to vibration without causing a serious increase in manufacturing cost or reduction in bonding strength. SOLUTION: In a hydraulic buffer comprising a rod 12 extended from a cylinder 1 to be expansible and contractible, the rod is formed by being butt-joined with a rod body 10 extended from the cylinder 1 with a mounting member 12 having a bolt-shaped part 11 at the tip side, the mounting member 12 includes a collar 13 integrally formed on the butt-end side with the rod body 11. A flat part 16 of a cap body 14 for mounting a protective cover 4 is superposed on the collar 13, and both of them are bonded to each other by projection welding. Since rocking directional torque applied to the cap body 14 is received by the wide flat surface of the cap body 14, stress caused in the cap body 14 is distributed in a wide range, and the fatigue cracking of the cap body 14 can be consequently reduced even in a condition that vigorous vibration is applied to the cap body 14 in a RV (recreational vehicle) or the like.
