Methods for controlling equipment with the aid of electroencephalograms (EEG) or electrocorticograms (ECoG) use the generation of a number of different periodic stimuli, each with a given base frequency, the input of EEG or ECoG signals and the filtering, amplification and further processing of said signals, the latter being filtered, amplified and input for further processing. A specific stimulus can be deduced from the signals of the amplification channels, thus triggering an action in the equipment. To improve the reliability and speed of the decision-making process, the stimuli phase and signal processing phase are synchronised.
