PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alter the position and size of an AF evaluation value detection frame according to a subject, thereby performing a correct AF operation without being affected by its size and recesses and projections. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes a mode for allowing movement of an AF evaluation value acquiring area on a screen, and a mode for allowing a change in the size of the AF evaluation value acquiring area. Execution of both of the modes is performed by the processing of a CPU 18 based on an instruction given by a user through an operating section 23. An acquiring area cross mark shown on the screen is moved by upward, downward, leftward and rightward movement switches. It is moved to an arbitrary place and an OK switch is depressed. As a result, it is fixed in the position and the AF evaluation acquiring area is reset. In addition, the frame of the acquiring area is additionally displayed on a display part 22 upon an instruction from the user. A display frame is changed into a smaller or larger size by the left or right movement switch. If the OK switch is depressed in an arbitrary frame size, the acquiring area is determined. This makes it possible to securely acquire an AF evaluation value in an acquiring area without being affected by the size of a subject or its recesses and projections. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
