PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drain valve which is connected to an intermediate portion of a drain pipe horizontally arranged from a refrigerating plant, a commercial-sized air conditioner, etc. along a floor surface, for smoothly draining waste water such as drainage, prevents the inflow of outside air and odors and the invasion of insects, rats, etc., and facilitates the cleaning of the inside thereof. SOLUTION: The drain valve has an inflow port 3 and an outflow port 4 arranged at both front and rear edges of a valve chamber 2 in which a spherical valve body 6 specific gravity lighter than that of water internally arranged so as to be connected to the upstream side and the downstream side of a drain pipe. The drain valve also has a short pipe 5 protruded upward from the valve chamber 2 so that a lower opening fully communicates with the inside of the valve chamber 2 and the short pipe is inclined rearward at a location closer to an upper edge. The drain valve further has a guide surface such as a guide groove which guides both side surfaces of the spherical valve body 6 beginning from the upper edge of the internal peripheral surface of the short pipe 5 to lower edges of both side internal wall surfaces of the valve chamber 2, and blocks the inflow port 3 with the front surface of the spherical valve body 6.
