<p>Described is a flat-wall solar concentrator for disinfecting human consumption water. The present device is useful for increasing up to 3 times the solar radiation at the center portion where three (PET) transparent plastic containers filled with water are located, thus reaching an efficiency of up to 99.99% in inactivating bacteria, even in scarcely sunny days. The present structure may be manufactured out of wood, metallic or plastic sheets. The inner surface of the container is coated with highly reflective materials such as mirrors and aluminum paper amongst others. The purpose of the present invention is to provide an alternative for disinfecting human consumption water in rural or urban-marginal communities, where boiled or chloride-taste water is not accepted or where adding substances to drinking water is rejected.</p> |
