PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser diode control apparatus and a laser diode control method, capable of suppressing the absolute values and rise rates of a bias current and a modulation current, in a period from the start of light output up to the acquisition of a required light output without causing prolongation of the period. SOLUTION: A controller 10 acquires light emission start time control information from a light emission start setting memory 12a, controls a drive circuit 6 so as to increase a bias current S1 and a modulation current S2 from respective initial values, up to respective target values, on the basis of the acquired light emission start time control information, and then performs APC control.
