PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover an elevator as early as possible by securing the safety of operation after the recovery when the elevator is stopped by an earthquake. SOLUTION: When an elevator is stopped by an earthquake (S11 to S13), an operation control part installed in a control device performs three inspection operations in order as the operations for automatic recovery. In the first inspection operation, devices are inspected for presence or absence of abnormality while reciprocating a car from the uppermost floor to the lowermost floor at low speed (S16). In the second inspection operation, after confirming the results of the first inspection operation, a door is inspected for opening/closing motion while stopping the car at each floor and moving at a rated speed (S18). In the third inspection operation, the state of traveling of the car is inspected while reciprocating the car from the uppermost floor to the lowermost floor at a rated speed after confirming the results of the second inspection operation (S20).
