PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method of a stress corrosion crack developing speed capable of evaluating a stress corrosion crack developing speed even with respect to an anisotropic material. SOLUTION: In the evaluation method of the stress corrosion crack developing speed for evaluating a crack degree by imparting a crack 11 to an anisotropic testpiece 10, applying load to the crack 11 from a loading means 12 and housing the cracked testpiece under a corrosive environment to calculate the crack developing speed of the anisotropic testpiece 10, a load-displacement curve PV is calculated from a predetermined load and the displacement of the length of the crack 11 in the testpiece 10 while a load-displacement curve P<SB>1</SB>V<SB>1</SB>from the predetermined load to the 100% load of test load is calculated by an extrapolation method. The displacement corresponding to 100% of test load is calculated from the load-displacement curve P<SB>1</SB>V<SB>1</SB>calculated by the extrapolation method and the load-displacement curve PV calculated on the basis of the predetermined load. The calculated displacement is applied to the testpiece to calculate the coefficient of stress magnification from the 100% load of the test load. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
