Disclosed is a crosslinkable fluorine-containing aromatic prepolymer which enables to obtain a cured product having high transparency, low relative dielectric constant, high heat resistance, low birefringence and high flexibility. Also disclosed is use of such a prepolymer. Specifically disclosed is a crosslinkable fluorine-containing aromatic prepolymer obtained by condensing a compound (Y-1) having a polymerizable double bond (A) and a phenolic hydroxyl group and/or a compound (Y-2) having a polymerizable double bond (A) and a fluorine atom-substituted aromatic ring, a fluorine-containing aromatic compound (B) represented by the formula (1) below and a compound (C) having 3 or more phenolic hydroxyl groups which are not present in a same aromatic ring in the presence of a dehydrofluorinating agent. This crosslinkable fluorine-containing aromatic prepolymer has a polymerizable double bond (A) and an ether bond, while having a number-average molecular weight of from 1 x 10^3 to 5 x 10^5.
