A head slider is provided to reduce the amount of floating and stabilize the position of floating by maintaining the distance of reference status between the head slider and a recording medium. A head slider comprises a slider main body(31) defining a reference surface, a front rail(37), a rear rail(39), and a head element(49). The front rail, which is placed at an air inlet end of the slider main body, defines a front air bearing surface with a first height from the reference surface of the slider main body. The rear rail, which is installed at the air outlet end of the slider main body, defines a rear air bearing surface with a second height lower than the first height from the reference surface of the slider main body. The head element is embedded in the rear air bearing surface. A pair of rear side rails, which is positioned at two sides of the rear rail from the air outlet end of the slider main body, defines an auxiliary rear air bearing surface with the first height from the reference surface of the slider main body.
