SPATIAL OPTIC MODULATOR AND METHOD THEREOF USING PIEZOELECTRIC MATERIAL

A piezoelectric diffraction type SOM(Spatial Optic Modulator) and a modulating method thereof are provided to project a clear image by reflecting the same image without deformation and to reduce an afterimage generated over the certain time. A piezoelectric diffraction type SOM(630) has a micro mirror which is operated by corresponding to an applied voltage and modulates the incident light. A storing unit sets information about the voltage applied to operate the micro mirror and luminance information of the diffracted light about the incident light reflected by the micro mirror, correspondently to the applied voltage information. A judging unit reads the applied voltage information and luminance information and repeatedly generates an image control signal at a predetermined cycle corresponding to the k number of voltage information corresponding to the same luminance. Driver ICs(Integrated Circuit)(640a-640d) generate the applied voltage for operating the micro mirror by receiving the image control signal.
