APPARATUS FOR DISPOSING FOODWASTE

A food waste disposer is provided to reduce decomposition time of food waste, improve the disposal efficiency, and dispose food waste without using separate purification facilities by shredding food waste and biologically degrading food waste at the same time. A food waste disposer(200) comprises a housing(210) formed in such a structure that food waste is put into the upper side and disposed food waste is discharged to the outside through the lower side; a drum(220) which is rotatably installed within the housing, and has first circulation holes(222) through which the food waste put into the housing flows into the drum through the first circulation holes; a screen(230) which is disposed under the drum within the housing, which is installed in such a shape that the screen is spaced from the outer peripheral surface of the drum and covers the lower periphery of the drum, and in which second circulation holes(232) having a diameter smaller than that of the first circulation hole are formed; and a drive unit(250) driven by a control part(270) to rotate the drum. The food waste disposer further comprises a supporting plate(212) which is installed at the lower side of the screen within the housing, and supports the screen such that a settling tank(240) is formed under the screen to contain food waste dropped through the screen.
