The device has a light source (8), an upper reflector (9) and a lower reflector (10), which are arranged such that lighting beam presents high and low amplitude in a horizontal and vertical plane, respectively. The high and low amplitude of the beam permits an illuminated space of a passenger compartment (2) to extend in longitudinal and transversal direction of a motor vehicle, respectively.
