A portable terminal having a function of clearing foul breath and a foul breath clearing method using the terminal are provided to automatically operate a gas sensor when a user is talking over the phone with the other party, so as to measure the user's foul breath, and to notify the user whether the user has the foul breath, thus the user can know the user's foul breath which the user does not recognize. A foul breath measuring and deciding unit(220), which consists of a sensor(221), an A/D converter(222) and a foul breath deciding unit(224), measures a numerical value of a user's foul breath, and decides whether the measured numerical value is more than a preset reference value. A display(208) displays a message indicative of the user's foul breath according to the decided results. If a user's cachou spraying command is inputted, a spraying unit(214) sprays a cachou.
