A shift control method of an automatic transmission on a vehicle is provided to prevent generation of an abnormal shock and to obtain a rapid response characteristic by determining retransmission according to a rotation number of a turbine of a final target shift stage. A sensing unit is composed of various kinds of sensors. An engine control unit controls various states of an engine. A transmission control unit analyzes information, vehicle speed information, and throttle information through algorithm, and performs a transmission control through a transmission control driver. The transmission control unit determines permission of retransmission according to a turbine speed of a final target shift stage corresponding to a transmission request when detecting the transmission request using a sport mode in a controlling state of an up-shift operation or a down-shift operation according to conditions of a vehicle.
