A method for transmitting and receiving signals in a communication system by using a variable CP(Cyclic Prefix), and a base station and UE(User Equipment) performing the same are provided to transmit and receive signals stably by using obtained CP length information. A sequence inserting unit(601) inserts CR length information of a sub-frame including one or more of an SCH(Synchronous Channel) and a BCH(Broadcast Channel) into a channel signal of the first SCH including a signal used for timing searching among the SCHs. A transmitting unit(602) transmits the channel signal of the first SCH having the length information which has been inserted by the sequence inserting unit(601) through the sub-frame.
