PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breaking of an inkjet head which may occur when ink is attached to the head by a constitution wherein an adhesive tape having a thickness used in replacement of a recording medium hardly contacts the head. SOLUTION: This inkjet device comprises a recording medium conveyance means for conveying a web type recording medium and a plurality of full-line inkjet head units for ejecting ink according to an image signal toward the recording medium conveyed by the recording medium conveyance means, each of the full-line inkjet head units having a length roughly equal to the width of the recording medium. The inkjet device is equipped with a head unit-retracting means for retracting the full-line inkjet head units from the recording medium. The conveyance of the recording medium is stopped and the retracting means is operated in response to an output of a residual condition detection means for detecting a residual condition of the recording medium.
