PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack shaft support device which has no constraint in space, and allows to freely adjust locking of a screw member, and to readjust the screw member. SOLUTION: The locking of a first screw member is performed by elastically deforming an elastic deformation portion to frictionally engage with an internal thread portion of a holding hole in such a way that a rack guide 23 is slidably held in the holding hole 22 formed in an overhung 21 of a housing 11, a first screw member 24 preventing the rack guide from retreating is screwed to the internal thread portion of the holding hole, at least the one elastic deformation portion 32 is formed in a circumference of the first screw member, and a second screw member 35 is screwed to the internal thread portion formed in the first screw member.
