The method involves detecting whether a substance in a predetermined volume occurs in increased concentration with respect to an environment. The volume is exposed to a static magnetic field with well-known strength (B), and electrical shift signals are detected by induction coils. An amplitude value of the shift signals is determined using a predetermined frequency value of a Larmor frequency, where the frequency value is a specific value. The substance is detected when the amplitude value is above a threshold value. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting a substance.
