PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device, in which steering assist force can be controlled in accordance with steering quantity from a neutral point of a steering wheel after an ignition switch is closed. SOLUTION: Every time the ignition switch is closed, whether or not the position of the steering wheel H corresponds to a straight advance state of a vehicle is determined, and detected steering quantity by a first steering quantity sensor when it is determined so is stored as the neutral point. After the ignition switch is closed, and before the neutral point is stored, total of detected steering quantity by the first steering quantity sensor from the neutral point immediately before the ignition switch is last opened, detected steering quantity by a second steering quantity sensor of low resolution after the ignition switch is last opened till it was closed, and detected steering quantity by the first steering quantity sensor after the ignition switch is closed is taken as the steering quantity from the neutral point to control an actuator 1 for generating steering assist force.
