PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine improving fuel economy performance in a vehicle equipped with a transmission selectable of a gear change stage by an operator. SOLUTION: Multi-pilot injections (two pilot injections) are preformed in a low revolution and high load range and a single pilot injection is performed in a high revolution and low load range. Frame noise changes when the operation state of a diesel engine shifts from a multi-pilot range to a single pilot range during acceleration of the vehicle. The change of frame noise prompts the operator to upshift operation. The upshift operation is thus expected to be made at a relative low revolution and the fuel economy performance of the vehicle can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
