PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a shock during the acceleration of a wheeled hydraulic shovel. SOLUTION: The travel controller of the hydraulic drive vehicle includes a travel hydraulic motor 5 driven by oil discharged from a hydraulic pump 11; a speed reduction mechanism 6 for transmitting the rotation of the hydraulic motor 5 to wheels while reducing the speed of the rotation with the speed reduction ratio of the mechanism variable; and a pressure oil control means 12 for controlling the flow of pressure oil from the hydraulic pump 11 to the hydraulic motor 5 according to the amount of operation on a travel pedal 22. The travel controller also includes a speed reduction ratio detecting means 31 for detecting the speed reduction ratio of the speed reduction mechanism 26, and acceleration limiting means 10, 25A, 25B and 27 for limiting the accelerating operation of the hydraulic motor 5 when the speed reduction ratio detected by the speed reduction ratio detecting means 31 is equal to or greater than a predetermined value.
