PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conveyor system whose components are less than those of a roller-system conveyor device for avoiding its malfunction even when carrying materials such as wet chips which are produced in machining processes. SOLUTION: This device and method for carrying materials comprises a conveyor belt 60 having cord members 63, 64 provided along the sides of the belt 60. The cord members 63, 64 can be fitted to track assemblies 34, 38 having slots 61, 62. Thus, cord members 63, 64 can be slid relative to the track assemblies 34, 38 when a conveyor is driven.
