PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a local corrosiveness evaluation method of a metal material for a container of petroleum or the like, for rapid and simple evaluation of the local corrosiveness in a mounting machine with high accuracy in the metal material used for the container of petroleum, or the like. SOLUTION: In the local corrosiveness evaluation method of the metal material used in the container for housing petroleums, a metal piece manufactured, using the metal material, is brought into contact with a solution prepared by mixing water or an NaCl aqueous solution and a S powder to be corroded, and the average corrosion depth of the corroded metal piece and the surface roughness measuring value of the metal piece are added to measure the maximum corrosion depth of the corroded metal piece so that the local corrosion properties of the metal material are evaluated.
