PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a worm reduction gear which allows a backlash adjusting means to be utilized for other applications by focusing attention on structural characteristics of the backlash adjusting means. SOLUTION: The worm reduction gear is equipped with a backlash adjusting means 8 capable of adjusting backlash between a worm 1 and worm wheel 2. An effective lead angleΓW of the worm 1 is increased and decreased within an allowable range by the backlash adjusting means 8 in response to an effective lead angleΓH of the worm wheel 2.
