The method involves removing fine metallic particles (9) from the surface of a work piece (2) and is emitted in the periphery of the workpiece. Fluid droplets (12) containing gaseous covering is produced by introducing a fine distributed flow of fluid droplets in a treatment chamber (1) around the work piece, held in the emitted metallic particles and are braked or bounded by the droplets, and a precipitation of the particles during the treatment takes place by discharging the charged fluid droplets from the treatment chamber. An independent claim is also included for a device has nozzles attached in the upper area of the treatment chamber for the production of the fluid droplets.
