PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly convenient apparatus for preventing things from being left behind, which temporarily evades the notifying means of ringing or the like without turning off a power switch when the notifying means is not needed. SOLUTION: In the apparatus 1 for preventing things from being left behind, a transmitter 3 and a receiver 2 provided with the notifying means 24 are combined and the receiver 2 does not operate the notifying means 24 when receiving radio waves from the transmitter 3 and operates the notifying means 24 when the radio waves from the transmitter can not be received. The receiver 2 is provided with a notification suspending means 22 for suspending the operation of the notifying means 24 when the radio waves from the transmitter 3 can not be received within the set time, or a notification switching means 23 for switching the setting of a communication means 24 to the other notifying means 25, 26 and 27.
