PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heavy metal adsorbing material realizing incineration treatment of waste water sludge and recovery of heavy metal in a reduced cost. SOLUTION: The method for producing the heavy metal adsorbing material comprises a process producing an alkali extraction liquid by treating conifer bark with a hot alkali, a process adjusting pH of the alkali extract liquid, adding carbon based material and agitating the liquid, and then obtaining the heavy metal adsorbing material composed of composite of the carbon based material and bark phenolic acid by separation.
