PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform the detection result by an external device to a user at a remote place by a simple arrangement without using a telephone line, and to inform a contact point specified for every event to this effect in a telephone having a security function interlocked with an automatic answering function. SOLUTION: The cordless telephone 100 includes of a master unit 100A and a slave unit wherein the master unit 100A has a section 104 for performing wireless communication with the slave unit 100B, a telephone line I/F 110 performing communication through a telephone line, an IP communication I/F 106, an external I/F 191 receiving a signal depending on the detection result from sensors 816 and 826 provided in external devices 810 and 820, a section 190 for detecting the signal from the external device, and a control section 170 for transmitting an e-mail corresponding to the detection result to a mail address specified beforehand based on the detection result from the detecting section 190 by SMTP through the IP communication I/F 106 when the automatic answering function is effective.
