PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the position of the cutting edge of a grinding wheel without performing grooving for correcting the position on a work to be machined. SOLUTION: In this grooving device 1, grooving is performed on the surface of the work to be machined R at a prescribed machining position in the rotating axis direction of the grinding wheel 26 by the rotating disk-like grinding wheel 26. The device is provided with a grinding means 4 rotating the grinding wheel 26, an attachment means attaching the work R, a storing means storing machining position data relative to the machining position, a work moving means relatively moving the work R in the rotating axis direction relative to the grinding wheel 26, a dummy work 13 in which a groove for correcting the machining position is ground by the grinding wheel 26, a grinding position measuring means 15 measuring the grinding position in the rotating axis direction of the correction groove formed in the dummy work 13 using a prescribed first reference position as a reference, and a correcting means correcting the stored machining position data based on the measuring result of the grinding position.
