An LED(Light Emitting Diode) lens, a backlight unit using the same, and an LCD are provided to increase the light collection efficiency and improve the brightness by using LED(Light Emitting Diode) lenses each having a saw-toothed curved face for turning an initial incident direction of light to a vertical direction, and a main light guiding plate positioned vertically to the initial incident direction of light. A backlight unit comprises an LED assembly, LED lenses(41), and a main light guiding plate. The LED assembly has a plurality of LED light sources(42) arranged vertically to the main light guiding plate. Each of the LED lenses includes a light incident face, a light reflection face, and a light exit face. A light ray, which is emitted from each of the LED light sources and advances in a first direction, enters through the light incident face of the LED lens. The light reflection face of the LED lens is curved in a saw-toothed shape to turn the light ray in a second direction, which is different from the first direction, through diffusion, refraction, and reflection. The light ray turned by the light reflection face of the LED lens is outputted through the light exit face of the LED lens. The main light guiding plate is positioned vertically to the first direction to diffuse, refract, and reflect the light rays outputted from the LED lenses again. |
