A synchronous motor for a hermetic compressor is provided to improve performance and reliability of the synchronous motor by reducing abnormal abrasion of sliding part and performing electrical insulation and magnetic flux reduction with an insulating paper. A synchronous motor for a hermetic compressor comprises a frame(100), a shaft(200), a rotor(300), a stator(400), an insulating paper(500). The shaft is rotatably fixed to the frame. The rotor, which is rotatably inserted to the shaft, is a cylindrical hollow body where a permanent magnet is contained. The stator is fixed to surround the rotor. The insulating paper, which is inserted to the shaft via a through hole to separate the frame, rotor, and stator from each other, comprises a first side(510) made of an insulator to secure electrical insulation between the frame and the rotor, and a second side(520) made of paramagnetic substance to block the magnetic flux generated from the permanent magnet in the rotor. The first side of the insulating paper, which is made of a polyester film, is disposed facing to the stator, and the second side, which contains at least more than one component selected by the group comprising aluminum, tin, platinum, magnesium, iridium, and tungsten, is disposed facing to the frame.
