In order to provide a smoothing press apparatus suitable to be applied to a closed draw type paper machine for allowing the surface of the wet paper to be smoothed and papermaking to be performed in a high speed, [Means for achieving the object] the smoothing press apparatus 100 is mounted on a last stage of the press part 11 of the closed draw type paper machine, and includes a smoothing press 17 having a pair of press rolls 23 and 25, a smoothing belt 27 interposed between the smoothing press 17 together with the wet paper W to smooth the surface of the wet paper, and a wet paper conveyer felt 21 for conveying the wet paper W and passing over it to the smoothing belt 27.
