Resistance press-welding method comprises pressing an oversized component (1) into an aperture (3) in a second component (2). A current is passed through both components and the lateral surfaces (6, 7) of the first component and the aperture fuse to produce a weld. The first component is oversized by 0.1 - 1.0 mm. A high current impulse produced by transformed capacitor discharge is used for welding. The first component has a projecting section on its base. This is of the same diameter as the aperture and ensures centering of the component.
