<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent any unnecessary reading processing from being performed when it is judged that printing is impossible in a computer system for achieving a copy function of printing an image read by a scanner by a printer by using a scanner and a printer connected to a host device and a scanner driver and a printer driver operating on a host device. <P>SOLUTION: This printer driver is provided with a status notification part so that it is possible to notify a copy application of the status of a printer through a printer driver in the case of starting a copy system, for example, in the case of starting a copy application operating on a host device.
