<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methioninase inhibitor to suppress the production of methyl mercaptan emitting malodor by inhibiting methioninase derived from bacteria and provide a composition, food and drink containing the inhibitor. <P>SOLUTION: The invention provides a methioninase inhibitor, composition, food and drink containing an extract obtained from a plant of the genus Myrsine, family Myrsinaceae, preferably extract of Rapanaea neriifolia as an active component, and further provides a methioninase inhibitor, composition, food and drink containing one or more compounds selected from myrsinoic acid A, myrsinoic acid B, myrsinoic acid C, myrsinoic acid E and myrsinoic acid F; preferably the above methioninase inhibitor, composition, food and drink wherein the myrsinoic acid A, myrsinoic acid B, myrsinoic acid C, myrsinoic acid E and myrsinoic acid F are obtained from a plant of the genus Myrsine, family Myrsinaceae, preferably from Rapanaea neriifolia. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
