PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightning protection device capable of evading a large ground potential rise and minimizing lightning damage in an object to be protected. SOLUTION: The lightning protection device A comprises a lightning protection pole member 1, 50, or 100 mounted on a supporting member T through an insulating body 11A, and a lowering line 14 composed of an insulating coating cable for connecting the lightning protection pole member to a grounding pole body 15 buried in the earth E. The upper surface of the electrode body 2, 51, or 101 which is opposed to a thunder cloud Ct is formed as a parabolic surface like a surface having no projected needle part. Since much charge is simultaneously discharged from many discharge points in a weak force; preceding discharge from the lightning prevention pole member and charges of the lightning cloud are rarely coupled with each other, so that a large feedback current is prevented from flowing between the thunder cloud and the earth E.
