PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk inspection device and an optical disk inspection method by which a work efficiency can be improved even if inspection area is large by shortening a data processing time, also the extent of error can be detected by the peak value of an inspecting signal. SOLUTION: When the peak value of the inspecting signal is crossed to the predetermineded value, an error detection signal is outputted, the peak value is stored in a data storage means as the peak value data at the predeterminedd interval, the peak value is re-stored in the same memory area repeatedly whenever peak value data reaches the predetermined numbers, while when the error detection signal is received, the peak value data already stored is preserved as it is, after peak value data on and after is re-stored in another area of the memory area repeatedly, the peak value data stored in a data storage means is processed and an error property is calculated, while a position on the optical disk when the error detection signal is received is detected as an error position, and error information is prepared based on the data of error characteristic data and the dataof of error position.
